
Koketso Rathumbu is a highly skilled Public Health and Development Specialist with a diverse educational background, including a BA in Corporate Strategic Communications from the University of Johannesburg, a BA Hons in Social Behavioural Studies in HIV (with Cum laude distinction) from the University of South Africa (UNISA) as a Commonwealth scholar, studying an MA in International Development with University College London (UCL). With over 8 years of experience in HIV, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Human Rights, LGBTQIA+ issues, Gender-Based Violence, youth advocacy, and health promotion programs.Koketso has established herself as a specialist in the field.
She has worked extensively in a multisectoral environment at provincial, national, regional, and global levels, collaborating with government departments, international development partners, and NGOs. Notable stakeholders include the National Department of Health, UNFPA, UNAIDS, UNWomen, PEPFAR, and the Global Fund. Additionally, they are involved in oversight roles, such as serving as a Programme Advisory Group member for the Global Fund’s HerVoice Fund Project. She has previously served as the National Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW)/Youth Ambassador and Acting Technical Lead at the South African National Aids Council (SANAC). Currently, Koketso holds the position of Advocacy and Communications Manager at the Gender-Based Violence and Femicide Response Fund, where she works to address GBV and femicide issues
